Institut Joan Segura i Valls Střední průmyslová škola strojnická Olomouc
Santa Coloma de Queralt is a small village (2700h) in the middle of Catalonia, one hour from Tarragona and one hour from Barcelona too. There is a nursery, two primary schools and only a secondary one. Our secondary school is small and old, with about 120 students from 12 to 16 years old, so we only have the studies of ESO and then they move to Igualada or Montblanc to continue studying. Olomouc is a city of about 100,000 inhabitants in central Moravia (Czech Republic). Our school of about 400 students is specialized in technical education and offers studies in computer aided design, computer aided manufacturing, mechatronics and plastics processing, which means that besides compulsory general education subjects our students have also subjects like technical drawing, technology, mechanics or electrotechnics.
The school is into new projects, like TAC related to new technologies, GEP working the plurilingualism, an environmental one Escoles Verdes, and another to stop bullying (#aquiproubullying). In addition, our secondary school stresses the importance to have international experience, this is why we have applied for an Erasmus+ project. Our school has always been seeking international contact. In the past we had exchange projects with a school from the Netherlands, our students took part in an Erasmus project offering working experience in England and Ireland and every year we visit the International Village project in Slovakia enabling meeting of schools from many European countries.
